Case Study

Typology : Bar

Completed : November 2016

An existing U-shaped conveyor belt machine (aptly from the manufacturer Muller Martini) is converted into a fully equipped bar counter that becomes centrestage to the corner end of Paperplates, a former bindery at APW. Branding was helmed by Malaysian graphic designer duo, nowornever. Hanging steel cages that are both storage and landscape containers are suspended from the roof, creating lush sunshading from the generous skylight above.

Using pulley systems, suspended plants can be lowered down for watering and maintenance. The long elevation of the bar opens up into a series of tiered seating at the pocket park, allowing patrons to gather amongst the greens while giving bartenders access to their own urban herb farm.
