Table Apron
Typology : Restaurant + Event Space
Completed : March 2016
The brief of the project called for a design of an event and dining extension above a current functioning restaurant (formerly known as The Kitchen Table). Situated in a 1980s neighbourhood, the restaurant is often frequented by families and older folks. The extension will not only provide extra space for the restaurant but also cater for a younger, more trendy crowd.
Existing plywood walls were dismantled and relocated as a backdrop for a new service counter. Cladded with hand-weaved rattan panels, the counter serves as a gathering spot for the host during events and parties. More bespoke rattan furniture pieces such as a circular rattan display shelf and a suspended rattan platter box cum lamp shade were introduced into the space, referencing old craft with contemporary usage.
